On Sunday (May 18), the Turkish news agency Anadolu reported that at least 200 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in northern Gaza in the past 48 hours. The previous day, on Saturday (May 17), the Gaza government media office released this information in a statement.

The statement said that more than 200 people have lost their lives in the past two days in the northern Gaza governorate alone due to Israeli attacks. They described the killings as part of a genocide.

The Gaza media office said that Israeli forces have partially or completely destroyed more than 1,000 homes in the area and forcibly displaced more than 300,000 people to Gaza City, which does not have adequate shelter infrastructure.

The statement alleged that Israeli forces are deliberately preventing ambulances and civil defense workers from reaching the affected areas, resulting in many bodies being buried under rubble—a violation of international human rights law.

In addition, hundreds of tents set up in refugee camps in Jabalia, Tel al-Zatar, Beit Lahia and nearby areas have been destroyed by Israeli drone strikes.

The media office described the silence and lack of empathy from the international community as deeply concerning. Highlighting the shelter crisis, food, water and medicine shortages in Gaza City, it called for an urgent ceasefire, rescue and medical assistance, lifting the blockade and ensuring humanitarian aid, as well as bringing Israeli leaders to justice.
