Series of Explosions Rock India, Border on High Alert

A massive explosion near Delhi's Red Fort on Monday (November 10) night killed nine people and injured many others. The Indian government has put the Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal borders on high alert after the incident.


**India Today** reported that the Border Security Force (BSF) has stepped up surveillance along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab and the Uttar Pradesh-Nepal border. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Delhi Police are also investigating the incident.


**NDTV** reported that a powerful explosion took place in a Hyundai i20 car parked near the Red Fort metro station at 6:52 pm local time. Several nearby cars were reduced to rubble and mangled bodies were strewn on the road.


Delhi's Deputy Chief Fire Officer AK Malik said that firefighters reached the spot immediately after receiving the information and brought the fire under control.


After the explosion, extensive security has been tightened in the Red Fort area and panic has spread among tourists and locals.


On the same day, security forces recovered 2,900 kg of explosives in Faridabad, Haryana, about 50 km from Delhi. However, the Delhi Police has not yet said anything about the cause of the explosion.
