After the meeting of the core committee on law and order at the Home Ministry, former army officer and Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury told reporters that the government has no concerns about the 'lockdown' program in Dhaka on November 13. However, the afternoon's calmness was shattered by nightfall.

That night, the Home Ministry ordered law enforcement members to be alert and the leave of all Metrorail employees was canceled. At the same time, the police said that 25 people, all Awami League leaders and activists, have been arrested on charges of flying balloons near the Jamuna, the home of Chief Advisor Yunus.

At this time, analysts believe that the government's nightly activity is a sign of unease. After the coup in July last year, Awami League offices, houses of leaders and activists, and party centers were attacked and destroyed by fire. Many leaders are in prison, some have fled abroad. Although party president Sheikh Hasina is in India, a case against her for crimes against humanity is ongoing. The verdict will be set for November 13.

The Awami League is also promoting the lockdown program online with the slogan 'Hatao Yunus, Bachao Desh'. In reality, party workers occasionally hold small processions, but the police are chasing them. In this situation, Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam assumed that none of the Awami League's programs would be implemented effectively.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police said that Awami League workers were planning to release one lakh gas balloons to disrupt law and order around the November 13 'lockdown' program. In the last 24 hours, 25 leaders and activists have been arrested from different areas of the capital. During initial interrogation, they said that they wanted to create panic in the public mind through sudden processions and other activities.

In addition, the leave of all Metrorail officials and employees has been canceled. Although the DMTCL did not give the reason, various sources say that due to political unrest, an alert has been issued at important establishments.

At night, the Home Ministry instructed the law enforcement agencies to be on high alert to prevent the Awami League program and to arrest anyone immediately if they take to the field. In addition, the law enforcement agencies will be active in important areas of Dhaka for a few days.

According to intelligence information, leaders and activists from Barguna, Barisal, Gopalganj, Madaripur and Gazipur have reached Dhaka. A special meeting of the core committee on law and order was called on Sunday to discuss this situation.
