Since Sunday (May 18) morning, Ishraq Hossain's supporters have been protesting in front of the main gate of the Dhaka South City Corporation's Nagar Bhaban under the banner of 'Dhakabasi'. It was seen on the spot that they are gathering in small processions from different areas of the capital in front of the Nagar Bhaban and protesting the delay in taking oath. They are shouting slogans like "I want oath, I want Ishraq Bhai's oath", "I must take oath immediately", etc.

The day before (May 17), Ishraq Hossain complained at a press conference at the National Press Club that his election case was pending in the Awami League-dominated court for a long time, but he got the verdict after following all legal procedures. Expressing his anger at not being sworn in even after the verdict and gazette were published, he said, "We are ready for the oath."

It is worth noting that on March 27, a tribunal declared Ishraq Hossain the mayor of Dhaka South City. After that, the Election Commission sought the opinion of the Law Ministry to publish the gazette on April 22, but the gazette was published on April 27 without it. Although legal advisor Asif Nazrul objected to this, the Election Commission later said that it would not appeal against the tribunal's verdict.
