Nobel laureate economist and chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus called for active participation in social business in a meeting with Islamic NGO leaders from different countries of the Muslim world at the Jamuna State Guest House in the capital on Sunday (July 6). After the meeting, the chief advisor's deputy press secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumdar informed the media.
At the meeting, Dr. Yunus said, "In our world, we give importance to women's empowerment and healthcare. Poor people suffer due to lack of healthcare. Social business can be an effective way to deliver this assistance."
He also said, "I am encouraging young people around the world to be interested in social business and develop themselves as entrepreneurs."
Islamic NGO leaders participating in the meeting said that Dr. Yunus' recent initiatives and campaigns on social business have inspired them to take such initiatives in their respective countries.
