At a meeting at the Election Building in Agargaon on Tuesday (July 8), Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin said, “The image of the administration and the police has been damaged. This election is a big opportunity to restore their image.”
He said to government officials and law enforcement agencies, “I request you to try to earn the respect of the people. Prove that we can. As we did in the ’91, ’96 and 2001 elections, we will be able to do it this time too, God willing.”
He said, “We have the capacity, if we are sincere, a fair, acceptable and credible election is definitely possible.”
Addressing journalists, the CEC said, “People read less positive news, and their interest increases only when they see negative news. However, we want to run an awareness campaign in partnership with journalists, which is planned to be implemented.
