Prince Alwaleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud passed away on Saturday (July 19) at the intensive care unit of King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His death was confirmed by his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal, the Saudi Gazette reported.

According to family sources, his funeral will be held at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh after Asr prayers on Sunday.

Prince Alwaleed was seriously injured in a terrible road accident while studying in the UK in 2005. He has been in a coma since that accident. Although he occasionally responded slightly, he never regained full consciousness.

He was kept under close observation and treatment for 20 years. His father never agreed to turn off his son's life support. He always said, "Life and death are in the will of God."

Known as the "Sleeping Prince," this long struggle in the life of Prince Alwaleed has touched countless people. Many people prayed for him, not only in Saudi Arabia, but also around the world.

His death has cast a shadow of grief over the royal family and other quarters. A long wait has come to an end, one that will remain in the hearts of many forever.
