US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Fox News on Sunday (June 22) that China would suffer the most if the Strait of Hormuz were closed. He said, "So I urge the Chinese government to communicate with Iran to keep the strait open."

Rubio warned that closing the Strait of Hormuz would be another "terrible mistake" for Iran and would further escalate tensions. He also called it "economic suicide."

He added that if Iran were to close the strait, the United States would have the full ability to respond.
