Pakistan's Information Minister Ataullah Tarar has said that there is a possibility of a military attack on Pakistan from India in the next 24 to 36 hours. He said that Pakistan has "credible intelligence" in this regard. The news agency Reuters reported this information in a report on Wednesday (April 30).
Recently, 26 people were killed in a gunman's attack in the Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir. Although India has accused Pakistan of being behind the attack, Islamabad has strongly denied it.
Amidst this growing tension, Ataullah Tarar said in a post on the social media X, "India is preparing a military attack on Pakistan by creating false pretexts. Pakistan will give a strong response to any aggression and India will be held responsible for any consequences in the region."
Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif also told Reuters that an Indian attack is "imminent" and Pakistan is on the highest alert. However, he also commented that the question of using nuclear weapons is out of the question except for a threat to its existence.
Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed to punish the attackers in the wake of the attack. As tensions between the two countries rise, India has suspended the Indus Water Treaty and Pakistan has closed its airspace to Indian aircraft.
