Following the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, India, Congress President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to convene a special session of Parliament.
Kharge wrote, "In these critical times, the need for national unity and solidarity is paramount. A special session of both houses of Parliament should be convened at the earliest, it would be a reflection of our collective will."
Although the government called an all-party meeting after the attack, Kharge and Rahul Gandhi made it clear that the opposition will have full support for the government's action.
Prime Minister Modi said, "This attack is not just against tourists, but an attack on the soul of India. Those who carried out and planned the attack will receive unimaginable punishment."
It is worth noting that on April 22, 26 tourists were killed in a gun attack in the Baisaran Valley of Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
