On Thursday (June 19), the Hebrew-language newspaper Israel Hayom reported that Iran has ordered the vacating of the offices of Israel's Channel 14 television. According to the report, the channel is broadcasting anti-Iranian disinformation and could become a target for attack at any time.

On the other hand, influential US Senator Bernie Sanders has strongly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's war-like stance. In a statement, he said, "Netanyahu is making the same terrible mistake he made in 2002."

Sanders noted that in a speech to the US Congress in 2002, Netanyahu claimed that Iraq's Saddam Hussein was developing nuclear weapons and that overthrowing his government would have a "huge positive impact." The US launched the war in Iraq based on that statement.

Sanders said, “Netanyahu made a terrible mistake. 4,492 US soldiers lost their lives in that war, more than 32,000 were injured. And the economic damage amounted to about three trillion dollars. The most terrible thing was the death of millions of innocent Iraqi citizens.”

He also said, “Today, Netanyahu is showing the same kind of war-mongering mentality again, this time targeting Iran. But America should not follow that wrong path. We will not join Netanyahu’s war against Iran.”

Bernie Sanders’ statement has sparked a new debate on the Israel issue in the United States. In particular, the dominant part of the Democratic Party is moving away from the aggressive policy of the Trump administration and is taking a stand in favor of a diplomatic solution. Analysts believe that the future path in the Middle East should be peaceful diplomacy, not war.
