Big Blow to Bureaucracy: Government Sends 6 Top Officials into Compulsory Retirement

The government sent five secretaries and one grade-1 officer on compulsory retirement on Thursday (June 19) night. The Ministry of Public Administration has issued separate notifications in this regard.


The officials sent on compulsory retirement are—


Bangladesh Employees Welfare Board Director General (Secretary) Kazi Enamul Hasan

National Planning and Development Academy Director General (Secretary) Sukesh Kumar Sarkar

Land Appeal Board Chairman (Secretary) Muhammad Ibrahim

National Development Administration Academy Rector (Secretary) Dr. Md. Shahid Ullah

OSD Secretary Mohammad Salah Uddin

and Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation Chairman (Grade-1 Officer) Dr. Lipika Bhadra


The notification mentions that they have been sent on retirement as per Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018. According to this section, the government can send an officer on compulsory retirement without giving any reason after completing 25 years of service.


The government has said that these officers will receive all retirement benefits as per the rules.
