Pakistan will respond militarily if any Indian move disrupts the flow of water in the Indus River, the country's Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has warned.

On Friday (May 2), he said in Geo News' 'Naya Pakistan' talk show, "Stopping or changing the direction of the water flow is also a form of aggression, which is no less than ammunition. This will lead to a huge population facing food and water shortages, and death is inevitable."

He made it clear that if India builds any kind of dam or structure on the Indus River, which disrupts the flow of water, then Pakistan will be prepared to attack that structure.

Asif also said that Pakistan is raising the issue on the international stage and is closely monitoring the entire situation.

Incidentally, 28 tourists were killed in a horrific attack in Kashmir's Pahalgaon on April 22. New Delhi blamed the Pakistan-based 'The Resistance Front' for the attack. After that, India suspended the Indus Water Treaty and imposed diplomatic and visa restrictions. In response, Pakistan also took strict measures, resulting in heightened tensions between the two countries.
