Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated to a full-scale war after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killed 26 people. India launched missile strikes on several places in Azad Kashmir, including Kotli and Muzaffarabad, killing eight and injuring at least 35. Pakistan has also retaliated.

The Pakistani military claims to have shot down five Indian fighter jets—including three Rafales, a Su-30 and a MiG-29. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said several Indian drones and border posts were also destroyed.

India has already signed a deal to buy 26 new Rafales from France's Dassault Aviation, which was expected to further strengthen its fleet. However, the ongoing conflict has raised questions about the safety of these expensive warplanes.

In the context, India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, accusing Pakistan of involvement in terrorism, and in response, Pakistan has suspended trade, including the Simla Agreement and airspace closure.

India has also announced that it has carried out 'Operation Sindoor', hitting nine targets in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir. However, India claims that the operation did not target Pakistani military installations.
