Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan is celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr for the third consecutive time in Adiala Jail. However, he could not attend the Eid prayers due to the ‘tight security arrangements’ in the jail.

Imran Khan, who has been in jail since August 2023, is facing more than a hundred cases on charges of leaking state secrets, selling state gifts and other charges. This Eid, although Eid prayers were held at the central mosque of Adiala Jail, Imran Khan could not attend due to security reasons. Since his wife Bushra Bibo is also in the jail, she was also kept in a cell during the prayers. However, other prisoners and prison officials attended the Eid congregation.

Geo News reported that a special security plan has been implemented to ensure the safety of Imran Khan and other prisoners. Additional security arrangements have been introduced around Adiala Jail for 3 days.

According to sources, 8 additional security posts have been set up on the road leading to the prison, where about 200 officers and staff have been deployed. In addition, security has been beefed up to deal with any possible protests by PTI supporters outside the prison.

This situation has increased the ongoing political and security risks against Imran Khan, and has raised concerns about the political situation in Pakistan.
