US talks with Iran on the nuclear deal have stalled. Meanwhile, Israel is preparing for a possible attack on Iran, CBS News reported. In such a situation, tensions in the Middle East have reached a peak.
Due to this risk, the United States is evacuating non-essential employees and their families from the US embassy in Baghdad, Iraq. At the same time, US employees have been allowed to voluntarily leave several other countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.
According to the BBC, although US officials did not give a direct reason for this move, it is believed that Iran-US tensions are the main reason behind it.
On the same day, former President Donald Trump said at an event in Washington, "The Middle East has become dangerous now. So we are evacuating our citizens from there. We are monitoring the situation."
He also said, "The United States will never allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons."
Meanwhile, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that there have been indications from multiple sources that Iran may be trying to develop nuclear weapons. The United States wants Iran to halt its uranium enrichment program.
In response, Iranian Defense Minister Aziz Nasserzadeh said, "Conflict is being threatened if negotiations fail. But the US bases are within our reach and we will respond if necessary."
