Iran launched a major counterattack against Israel at midnight on Saturday (June 14). According to the Times of Israel and Reuters, more than a hundred ballistic missiles launched from Tehran hit various parts of Israel.
Explosions occurred in at least seven places in Tel Aviv. Smoke billowed across the sky. Warning sirens sounded across the country.
An Iranian official described the attack as “devastating” and said Tehran had begun responding to the brutal attacks by the Zionist forces.
The Israeli army (IDF) said several buildings were damaged in the attack and dozens more missiles were fired. The IDF ordered people to take shelter.
However, Israel claimed that some missiles were shot down mid-flight, leading to some confusion about the actual number.
The IDF warned not to release images or locations of the damage, lest the enemy analyze it and strike more effectively in a subsequent attack. Israel's air defenses are fully operational, the country's authorities said.
