A Middle East Eye report said that China's advanced surface-to-air missiles and launchers, the HQ-9B, have reached Iran. Arab intelligence officials said that Iran acquired the missiles as part of rebuilding its defenses damaged in the 12-day war with Israel.

The report said that the shipment of HQ-9B systems arrived in Tehran shortly after the Iran-Israel ceasefire on June 24. An unnamed Arab official said that the US's Arab allies were aware of the matter and that the White House had been informed.

Although it was not clear exactly how many missiles or launchers Iran had received, one official said that Iran was paying for these weapons in oil.

The Middle East Eye also said that the supply indicated the growing military and strategic relationship between China and Iran. However, neither China nor Russia have provided direct military assistance to Iran so far, despite military aggression by the US and Israel.

It is worth noting that Iran acquired HY-2 'Silkworm' cruise missiles from China through North Korea in the late 1980s, which they used on Kuwait and a US-flagged tanker during the Iraq War.
