In a message on the occasion of ‘World Accreditation Day’-2025 on June 8, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, said that small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are one of the driving forces of the global economy. The role of this sector in the country’s GDP and employment is very important.
He said that SME organizations are facing various challenges in entering the international market, such as changing needs of buyers and consumers, financial constraints and technological barriers. A joint global initiative is needed to address these.
Dr. Yunus said that the current interim government is sincere in the development of the SME sector. All concerned, including the Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB), must play a positive role in promoting sustainable industrialization and investment.
He termed the theme of this year's day—'Accreditation: Empowering Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)'—as timely and said that the accreditation system plays a helpful role in ensuring the quality of products and services, developing skilled manpower, and entering international markets.
It was further informed that since its establishment, BAB has so far granted accreditation certificates to 155 government, private, and multinational organizations according to international standards.
Finally, he wished success to all the programs taken on the occasion of this day.
