The incident took place on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at around 12 midnight. Samya was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a seriously injured condition, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The deceased Samya was a student of the 2018-19 academic year of Dhaka University and lived in room number 222 of the university's Sir A.F. Rahman Hall. His home is in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj district.
Tension is prevailing on the Dhaka University campus over this murder. Chhatra Dal leaders and activists have strongly condemned the attack and demanded the immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the culprits.
No official statement has been received from the university administration and law enforcement agencies yet. However, police patrols have been increased to control the situation.
An investigation is underway to find out the details of the incident.
