Ireland has been ranked as the world's most powerful passport for the first time in the latest Nomad Capitalist Passport Index. The index is based on five indicators, including visa-free travel to 199 countries, taxes on citizens living abroad, dual citizenship opportunities and personal freedom.
Ireland's passport scores 109, allowing its citizens to travel visa-free to 176 countries. Switzerland and Greece are next, with scores of 108.5 each. Portugal (108) and Malta (107.5) are in fourth and fifth place.
Bangladesh's passport is ranked 181st, with a score of 38, and its holders can travel visa-free or on-arrival to 50 countries. It is followed by Nepal (39.5) and Myanmar (37.5). India is ranked 148th (47.5) and Pakistan 195th (32). Afghanistan is ranked 199th as the country with the weakest passport.
It is worth noting that in February, Singapore topped the Henley & Partners Strong Passport Index, while Bangladesh's passport was ranked 93rd.
