Awami League leaders and activists held a surprise procession in the Zero Point area of Khulna city this morning. Most of the participants in the procession, organized under the banner of Khulna District Awami League at around 7:30 am on Sunday, are unknown faces.

Videos and pictures circulating on social media show the marchers carrying banners with pictures of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and chanting slogans like 'Sheikh Hasina is not afraid, we have not left the highway', 'Sheikh Hasina's government is needed again and again' and 'Sheikh Hasina will return as a hero'.

This is the first public program of the Awami League in Khulna, which was organized after the fall of the party's government. After the Awami League government resigned on August 5 last year, the party's political activities in Khulna were largely silent.

None of the top leaders of the district Awami League wanted to speak out on the issue.

However, an Awami League worker from Dumuria Upazila unofficially said, “The instructions were that known leaders and activists would not participate in the procession.

Therefore, this program has been implemented with lesser-known members from the union and upazila levels.”

Khairul Bashar, OC of Harintana Police Station under Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), said, “They suddenly got out of the car, marched and quickly left the area. Since the roads were empty in the morning, no one could stop them. However, we have taken the matter seriously and are working to identify the marchers
