An intense gunfight is underway between security forces and suspected terrorists in the Tanimarg area of Kulgam in Jammu and Kashmir, NDTV reported.
The clashes began on Wednesday (April 23) evening, a day after 26 people were killed in Pahalgam. About 1,500 people have been detained for questioning across the state in connection with the attack.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held an emergency meeting in New Delhi to review the security situation. The meeting was attended by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
Sources said that the meeting reviewed the recent violence and security arrangements in the Kashmir Valley.
