Cumilla Rape, Video Leak: Prime Accused Among 5 Held

This information was confirmed in a press release signed by Comilla District Superintendent of Police Nazir Ahmed Khan on Sunday (June 29) morning.

The arrested are Fajr Ali (the alleged rapist) and the videographers Anik, Suman, Ramzan and Babu. All are residents of Panchkitta village in Ramchandrapur Dakshin Union of Muradnagar.

Police said that on Thursday (June 26) night, Fajr Ali, son of Shahid Mia of Panchkitta village, cleverly opened the door of the house and raped a woman who had come from Homna to visit her father's house in Muradnagar. At the time of the incident, some people from the area came to the spot and saw the victim naked, recorded the video and later spread it on social media.

Later, Fajr Ali fled after being beaten up by the locals. The next day, the victim herself filed a case with Muradnagar police station. Immediately after the case, the police launched a raid.

Muradnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidur Rahman said that in addition to the rape case, preparations are underway for a separate case regarding the video sharing incident. The victim's medical examination has been completed.

District Police Superintendent Nazir Ahmed Khan said that the main accused Fajr Ali was arrested and is receiving treatment for his injuries. Four people involved in the video sharing incident have been arrested from different places in Comilla. Action will be taken against them under the Information and Communication Technology Act.
