BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Qatar Royal Air Ambulance at 10:40 am on Tuesday (May 6). She was welcomed at the airport by party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and senior leaders.
Meanwhile, thousands of leaders and activists gathered at the airport area since morning to greet Khaleda Zia. The leaders and activists said that they feel relieved that Khaleda Zia has recovered and returned home. They expect that she will be active in the leadership of BNP again after returning home and will play a role in restoring democracy.
Earlier, on Monday (May 5) afternoon, London time, Tarique Rahman himself drove his mother to Heathrow International Airport. It was an emotional moment for him to say goodbye to his mother and wife Zubaida Rahman after 17 years.
When the car reached the airport, thousands of expatriate BNP leaders and activists said goodbye to Begum Zia with slogans and greetings. Responding, the BNP Chairperson thanked everyone with a smile and waved her hand and requested the leaders and activists to keep an eye on Tarique Rahman.
Begum Zia was accompanied by her two daughters-in-law, members of the medical team, and UK BNP President MA Malek and General Secretary Kaiser M Ahmed.
