The counting of votes in the Chittagong University Central Students' Union (CHAKSU) and Hall Parliament elections will be done in two layers, said the university's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Kamal Uddin.
He told reporters on Tuesday (October 14) morning, "The counting of votes in the Chaksu will be done in two layers. The results will be announced on the day of voting—October 15. No one has the opportunity to know the color or structure of the ballot paper. We are organizing the vote by ensuring maximum security and transparency."
He also said that representatives of all candidates will be present during the counting of results. There will be free movement of inspectors and media personnel on the day of voting. "We have learned from the DUCSU and RAKSU elections. I believe those limitations will not remain here," said Professor Kamal Uddin. Adequate manpower has been deployed to ensure a fair election.
Meanwhile, the number of voters in the seventh Chittagong University Chaksu election is 27,516. Elections will be held for 26 posts in the Central Parliament and 14 posts each in the 15 Hall and Hostel Parliaments. The total number of candidates is 908. Of these, 13 are from the central parliament and 415 are independent candidates.
Voting will be held in 15 centers set up in five faculty buildings of the university, in a total of 60 rooms.
