Participating in the inauguration ceremony of the 'Sampriti Bhaban' at the International Buddhist Vihara in Merul Badda in the capital, Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus mentioned Pohela Baishakh as a symbol of harmony. He wished the countrymen a happy Bengali New Year in advance and urged people of all political ideologies to celebrate the New Year in unity.
The inauguration ceremony held on Sunday morning was attended by Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman and top leaders of the Buddhist community. Professor Yunus was presented with a commemorative plaque at the event.
Speaking at the event, Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman said, "The army is always ready for social harmony and peaceful coexistence. We are also committed to establishing peace in the hilly regions."
It was also hoped that the Sampriti Bhaban would play a role in spreading the message of mutual respect and coexistence among different religions and communities.
