Three Mro women, including two from the same family, were electrocuted in a transformer explosion in the Ranglai Headman Para area of 13-mile area on Chimbuk Road in Bandarban on Monday (July 14) morning.

The deceased were Rengthen Mro's daughter Tumale Mro (17), Parao Mro's wife Urkan Mro (71) and Merao Mro's wife Rowleng Mro (35).

Police and locals said that three women were electrocuted when an electrical transformer next to the neighborhood exploded. Two died on the spot. The other injured person was taken to Bandarban Sadar Hospital, where he died.

Rangrao Mro, president of the market committee of 12-mile area on Chimbuk Road, said that three Mro women lost their lives after getting entangled in the wire during the transformer explosion.

In this regard, Bandarban District Superintendent of Police Md. Shahidullah Kawsar told the media that police have been sent to the scene and rescue operations are underway. The body of one person has been brought to the hospital, while the bodies of the other two remain at the scene.
