Jatiya Nagorik Party convener Nahid Islam announced his visit to Gopalganj again in a post on his verified Facebook page at around 11 am on Thursday (July 17).
He wrote, “Our position on Gopalganj is very clear. Just as we are committed to Bangladesh, we are also committed to Gopalganj. We oppose political discrimination against the residents of Gopalganj.”
Nahid Islam alleged, “We will free Gopalganj and the entire Bangladesh from Mujibist terrorism and fascism. The Awami League has been endangering the lives of the people of Gopalganj for a long time, corrupting the liberation war, and doing injustice to the followers of traditional religions. We have pledged to change this situation.”
He said, “We did not carry a message of war. Mujibist terrorists have carried out planned armed attacks on our peaceful program, as happened in the July mass uprising. The Awami League wants to create an atmosphere of civil war in the country.”
He further wrote, “After August 5, many wanted to bring a ‘refined Awami League’. They should remember that Awami League is no longer a political party, it is now a terrorist organization.”
Complaining about the attack on the way back from a peaceful road rally in Gopalganj, Nahid said, “We held a road rally with the permission of the administration, we did not march. Even then, we were attacked. I have learned that four people have been martyred. If the administration had taken timely action, this bloodshed would not have happened.”
He claimed, “The way Chhatra League and Awami workers are involved in sabotage all over the country, they have not yet been brought to justice. The justice is being obstructed because of corrupt administrative officials.”
Nahid Islam wrote, “We went with the oath of the blood of the martyrs. We will go again. As long as I am alive, programs will continue in every upazila and village of Gopalganj. The flag of the July mass uprising will fly in every house. Gopalganj will be for Bangladeshis, not Mujibists.”
He further said, “We will restore Gopalganj of martyrs Babu Molla, martyr Rathin Biswas. We will protect the graves of martyrs of Kotalipara-Maqsudpur. We will not let even an inch of Bangladeshi soil go to Mujibists, InshaAllah.”
Indicating the upcoming program, he wrote, “Thank you to those who protested yesterday’s attack and took to the streets. See you at the march in Faridpur.
