Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan said that as of April 15, the country's gross foreign exchange reserves stood at $26.52 billion. According to the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) BPM-6 accounting method, this reserve is $21.17 billion.

However, based on the conditions for receiving IMF loan assistance, the net reserves (NIR) need to be a little more than $17 billion in June. Currently, it is around $16 billion, which is $1 billion behind the target.

Bangladesh Bank says that the reserves are still at a satisfactory level and they are optimistic about meeting the IMF's conditions within the stipulated time.

It is worth noting that net reserves are calculated by subtracting short-term foreign liabilities from gross reserves.
