Protesters held a sit-in program for the second day in front of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Nagar Bhaban in Gulistan on Thursday (May 15).

They gathered in front of the Nagar Bhaban with processions from different wards of Dhaka under the banner of 'Nagarbasi'. The banner read, "Nagar Bhaban blockade organized by the general voters of Dhaka".

The participants said that Ishraq Hossain has not been given the responsibility of mayor even after the court verdict and the publication of the gazette. There is delay and delay in taking the oath. That is why they are continuing the sit-in program continuously.

It is worth noting that in the DSCC elections held on February 1, 2020, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh of the Awami League defeated Ishraq Hossain of the BNP. However, on March 27, the tribunal annulled the results and declared Ishraq the mayor. Then on April 22, the Election Commission sought the advice of the Law Ministry to publish the gazette.
