The country's first civil surgeon conference began on Monday (May 12), which will continue until Tuesday. Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus inaugurated the conference at his office at 10:30 am. The main program of the conference is being held at the Shaheed Abu Sayeed International Convention Center.
Advisors, secretaries and top officials of various health-related ministries will give guidance to civil surgeons at the conference. According to the Health Ministry, this conference has been organized for the first time on the model of the DC conference with civil surgeons from 64 districts. Before the conference, instructions were given to identify the challenges and problems of the districts in healthcare and send them to the ministry, based on which the agenda has been formed.
Two civil surgeons presented the real picture of the country's health sector in the inaugural session. The topics discussed at the conference include the role of the health department in preventing child marriage, improving the quality of rural healthcare, implementation of vaccination programs, manpower crisis, infrastructure problems and transparency and accountability of the budget. In addition, a proposal to increase beds in district hospitals will also be discussed.
Health department officials said that through this conference, emphasis will be placed on analyzing the reasons behind public dissatisfaction with healthcare and determining strategies for structural reforms in the sector.
