At a press conference at the residence of the chief advisor in Jamuna on Sunday (May 25) night, his press secretary Shafiqul Alam said that after the Awami League's activities were banned, there is an attempt to create instability in the country and abroad. He referred to this situation as a 'state of war'.

The chief advisor said, "We want freedom from division, consensus is needed. We have to maintain whatever progress we have made. We have pulled the country from destruction, now if we cannot hold fair elections, we will feel responsible."

He also said, "A conspiracy is underway to push the country back towards subjugation. As long as I am here, I will not do anything that will harm the country, rest assured about this.
