India's Adani Power Limited said it owes the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) $496 million, of which $262 million is the BPDB's recognized unpaid bill. The company has warned that if all the dues are not paid by November 10, then power supply will be stopped from November 11.

Adani Power said that BPDB has not paid the dues despite continuous communication and sending multiple letters. According to the provisions of the 2017 Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), it reserves the right to stop supply in such a situation. The company has mentioned that even if the supply is stopped, it will be entitled to receive capacity payment based on 'dependable capacity'.

Earlier, Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani had sent a letter to Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus on September 27, urging the payment of the $464 million dues. He noted that even though partial payments were made from June to September, a large amount of money was still outstanding.

Meanwhile, according to sources in the Power Department, BPDB is currently working on settling the arrears as per the instructions of the National Review Committee on Power Purchase Agreements.
