Rescue teams and volunteers are trying to help millions of people affected by floods and landslides. The worst-hit countries are Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
Floods and landslides in Indonesia have killed 916 people so far, with 274 missing. More than 800,000 people are trapped in Sumatra's Aceh province. The death toll in Sri Lanka is 607 and 214 are missing. The country's President Kumaraswamy has called it "the worst natural disaster in history." At least 276 people have died in Thailand, while two people have died in Malaysia and Vietnam each.
Survivors of floods in Indonesia's Aceh province are now facing acute food and water shortages. Roads have been cut off, making it difficult for aid to reach them. Provincial Governor Muzakir Manaf said rescue efforts were underway, but poverty and food shortages were now the biggest humanitarian crises.
