First Bangladeshi Pilgrim Dies In Medina For Hajj

A Bangladeshi pilgrim named Khalilur Rahman (70) has died in Medina while participating in this year's Hajj. This is the first death of a Bangladeshi pilgrim in the 2025 Hajj season, according to the helpdesk of the Bangladesh Hajj Mission in Saudi Arabia.


The Hajj Bulletin of the Ministry of Religion stated that he died in Medina on the evening of April 29 (Tuesday) local time. The matter was confirmed by the concerned airlines, Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh Hajj Office and the Hajj Mission of Saudi Arabia.

So far, 1,224 pilgrims from Bangladesh have arrived in Saudi Arabia. 398 pilgrims left for Saudi Arabia on the first Saudi flight late on April 29. The Hajj activities were officially inaugurated by the Prime Minister's Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain.


This year, 87,100 pilgrims from Bangladesh will go to Saudi Arabia. Of these, 5,200 are participating in government and 81,900 in private management. Three airlines—Biman Bangladesh, Saudia and Flynas—will transport Hajj pilgrims on 232 flights. Pre-Hajj flights will run until May 31, while return flights will start from June 10. The holy Hajj will be held on June 5, subject to the sighting of the moon.
