While exchanging Eid greetings with journalists at the BNP Chairperson's political office in Gulshan on Tuesday (June 10) morning, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the upcoming meeting between Dr. Muhammad Yunus and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman could be a potential turning point in resolving the political deadlock.

He said that the meeting will be held in London from 9 am to 11 am on June 13 (Friday) and Tarique Rahman has already been formally invited. Fakhrul said that the BNP Standing Committee has welcomed the meeting and has given Tarique Rahman full authority to take decisions on any issue.

In his words, "New directions can be revealed from this meeting. This dialogue is a big opportunity for national interest."

Although the agenda was not specified, Fakhrul said that this is going to be a very important meeting in the national and international context.

Asked if the government decides to hold elections in April, he said, “An election in April is not logical. No decision has been made on that right now.”

He also said, “The BNP wants elections, not reforms—such propaganda is going on, which is baseless. BNP cannot be suppressed by anything.
