Chief Advisor Arrives For Japan Visit

The Chief Advisor to the Interim Government, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has arrived in Japan on a four-day official visit. He arrived in Japan at around 11 am on Wednesday (May 28) after a brief stopover in Hong Kong. The information was confirmed by the Chief Advisor's Press Secretary, Shafiqul Alam.


Earlier, he and his entourage left Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:10 am on Tuesday. Upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport, he was welcomed by the country's Labor Minister Chris Sun.


During the visit, Dr. Yunus will participate in the Nikkei Forum's 'Future of Asia' conference to be held in Tokyo and will hold a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. It is also reported that seven memorandums of understanding between Japan and Bangladesh may be signed during the visit.


The Chief Advisor is scheduled to return home on May 31.
