On Monday (April 7) night, 49 people were arrested in police raids in Sylhet, Gazipur and Khulna. These raids were conducted based on video footage and scenes spread on social media.
Sylhet
During the protest in Sylhet city, miscreants attacked KFC and Bata showrooms in a crowd of Towhidi people and looted goods. Kotwali Model Police Station arrested 14 people in raids in different areas of Sylhet city on Monday night. Among those arrested are Md. Rajan, son of Raja Mia of Dirai Police Station in Sunamganj, Emon, son of Arab Ali of Hasanagar village of Sadar Police Station, and Md. Rakib, son of Deen Islam of Kazitula area of Sylhet city.
Gazipur
Joint forces arrested 4 people in a raid in connection with the attack and vandalism at Bata showroom in Gazipur and handed them over to Gacha Police Station. Police have filed a case against them and they will be produced in court on Tuesday.
Khulna
31 people have been arrested for their involvement in the looting of Bata showroom and KFC food court in Khulna. Police have identified and arrested the accused after analyzing CCTV footage and social media.
Police said that legal action has been taken against those involved in these incidents and a drive is underway to identify and arrest more accused.
