Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul said that Sheikh Hasina's trial for the genocide committed to suppress the movement in July-August is officially starting. He gave this information in a post on his verified Facebook page on Sunday.

He said, "The prosecution and investigation team of the International Crimes Tribunal is working day and night to advance the genocide trial. Very soon, the prosecution team will submit formal charges to the International Crimes Court and from there the trial process will officially begin."

In the post, he also shared a photo of the father of martyred Chhatra Dal leader Wasim and wrote, "Martyr Wasim was one of the first to give his life in the July mass uprising. The long wait of everyone, including Abu Sayeed, Mughd and Wasim's family, is imminent."

He further mentioned, “All due process will be followed in this trial as per international standards. InshaAllah, Sheikh Hasina and other criminals will be proved guilty through fair trial.”

Incidentally, last year, allegations of genocide and crimes against humanity were raised against the Awami League government, party cadres, loyal sections of the administration and law enforcement agencies for suppressing the student-public movement. Based on these allegations, the trial is underway at the International Crimes Tribunal.
