This time, the dengue outbreak has increased and the nature of the disease has also changed, said Professor Dr. Md. Abu Zafar, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services. He said that dengue cannot be dealt with as easily as before, the conditions of many patients are rapidly becoming complex. As a result, the need for intensive care is increasing.

He said these things at a meeting organized at the conference room of the Directorate General of Health Services in Mohakhali, the capital, on Wednesday (July 9). At the meeting, the World Health Organization handed over medical aids including portable ultrasonograms and bedside hematocrit machines to the Directorate General of Health Services to combat dengue.

Dr. Zafar said that the importance of this equipment is now much greater in diagnosing the disease and making decisions quickly due to the increase in complex symptoms. He also said that the dengue outbreak in Barguna has been brought under control, but surveillance has been strengthened across the country.

More than 13,000 people have been infected with dengue so far, with 56 deaths. The number of infected people is increasing in various districts including the capital.

Experts say that the accumulated water and increase in temperature after the rain are increasing the breeding of mosquitoes. Therefore, not only government initiatives, but every family must be aware.

The Director General of Health urges everyone to seek medical advice quickly without neglecting fever. It is possible to avoid complications if treatment is taken on time.
