The Meteorological Department said on Thursday (May 29) morning that the low pressure area located in the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent areas has condensed and turned into a depression. As a result, all seaports in the country have been asked to display local warning signal number 3.

Due to the impact of the low pressure, it has been raining in different parts of the country including the capital Dhaka since the morning, accompanied by gusty winds. The tendency of rain is especially high in the coastal areas, due to which the common people are suffering.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Weather Observation Team (BWOT) said that a strong monsoon rain cycle is active across the country. This is the fifth and first full monsoon rain cycle of this year, which is likely to leave the country through the Rangpur region on June 3 (Tuesday).

Due to the impact of the rain cycle, there is a risk of heavy to very heavy rain in different regions. The agency has predicted that 170-220 millimeters of rain may fall in Dhaka, 160-250 millimeters in Khulna, 160-250 millimeters in Barisal division, 200-350 millimeters in Sylhet, 150-220 millimeters in Mymensingh, 80-140 millimeters in Rajshahi, 170-300 millimeters in Rangpur and 190-400 millimeters in Chittagong division.
