National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam has insisted that the July Declaration must be included in the new constitution.
He made this comment in a post on social media Facebook on Friday (July 4) night.
Nahid Islam wrote, “It is not enough to just include the July Declaration in the constitution, the aspirations of the mass movements of 1971 and 2024 will be the ideological basis of the new constitution. First, it must be prepared as a document of political consensus and later it must be given a constitutional and legal basis.”
He also said that the July Declaration will clearly state the historical context of the July student uprising, the aspirations of that movement, the dignity of the martyrs and the injured, and the commitment to ensure their safety.
