Protesters chanted slogans demanding the appointment of Ishraq Hossain as the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation in front of Nagar Bhaban in Gulistan since Saturday morning (May 17). They said that despite the court verdict and the publication of the EC gazette, Ishraq is being delayed by not being given the responsibility.

Earlier, a press release sent to the media said that ordinary citizens will observe the 'Long March to Secretariat' program on behalf of voters.

Incidentally, the court declared BNP leader Ishraq Hossain as the mayor on March 27 and the Election Commission published the gazette on April 27.
