On Sunday (November 2) morning, the Bangladesh Weather Observation Team (BWOT) said in their Facebook post that if everything goes normal, winter may arrive in the northern parts of the country from November 10 onwards. It is expected that cold will be felt across the country by the end of the month. However, there is no possibility of any major cold wave before December.
According to meteorologist Dr. Md. Omar Farooq, the effects of winter will be felt in the northern parts including Rangpur, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh and Nilphamari from the second week of November. Later, it will gradually spread across the country. There is a possibility of winter in the capital Dhaka in the first half of December.
Earlier, the monthly forecast of the Bangladesh Meteorological Department had said that one to two mild cold waves may blow in the north, north-west and central parts of the country in December.
Meteorological experts say that this year's winter may be a little longer and more severe than usual. There is a risk of moderate to severe cold waves in various regions between December and January, especially in the northwestern region, where temperatures may drop to 8 to 10 degrees Celsius.
