Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government, has left Dhaka for the United Kingdom on a four-day official visit. The Emirates Airlines flight carrying him left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7:30 pm on Monday (June 9). The matter was confirmed by the chief advisor's press secretary, Shafiqul Alam.
During the visit, Dr. Yunus will meet British King Charles III at Buckingham Palace and receive the 'King Charles Harmony Award' from him. In addition, he is also scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
He will also participate in a dialogue organized by the UK's policy research organization Chatham House. According to sources in the chief advisor's office, the UK's support for Bangladesh's democratic transition and the issue of bringing back money laundered abroad will be of special importance during this visit.
The chief advisor is scheduled to return home on June 14.
