On Saturday (May 31) afternoon, International Crimes Tribunal Prosecutor Gazi M.H. Tamim confirmed that the trial of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the July genocide case will be broadcast live from the International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday (June 1).

He said that on that day, in addition to Sheikh Hasina, formal charges will be filed against two other accused in the case - former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun. The hearing to take cognizance of the charges will be broadcast live on BTV.

Earlier, at a seminar organized at the National Press Club on the occasion of International Disappearance Week, Chief Prosecutor Advocate Tajul Islam said that formal charges against the three in the case of crimes against humanity committed in July-August will be filed with the tribunal on Sunday.

He said that the trial process of the July-August killings will be visible by December. The trial will be conducted in such a way that no question arises about its impartiality.

The investigation into the case was completed on May 12. The investigation report stated that evidence of five serious allegations had been found against Sheikh Hasina in connection with the indiscriminate killing of more than 1,400 people in the suppression of the movement. These included allegations of ordering, inciting and inciting the killing. Similar allegations have been made against Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun.
