Responding to questions from journalists after visiting the Export Cargo Village at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday (July 6), Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that the people sent back from Malaysia are not militants. The Malaysian government sent them back as their visas had expired.
He said that despite some claims made by the Malaysian police, the Bangladesh government has not yet received any official message in this regard. Efforts are underway to communicate.
Addressing journalists, he said, "There are currently no militants in Bangladesh. With your cooperation, it has been possible to eliminate militants. You have contributed the most to this success. You have not been able to provide any information related to militants in the last 10 months, because there are no militants. When there were militants before, you provided information."
Regarding export activities, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that recently, export activities have been somewhat disrupted due to the agitation of National Board of Revenue (NBR) officials. The Export Cargo Village was visited to see firsthand the impact of this situation and whether the activities are normal at present.
